Goal Setting – 3 Things I’m Going to do in 2018

2018 goals

I have a confession to make…I’m a hardcore planner. I love creating my to-do lists, time maps and schedules. So now that 2018 has rolled around, goals for the new year are on my mind.

But I fall prey to a couple of the common goal setting mistakes. I make too many goals. I make crazy big goals. And I typically don’t tell anyone else about these goals. The result…my goals don’t get accomplished. Not good.

So, new for 2018, I am setting 3 reasonable goals and I am going to share them with you.

Goal #1: Log my Riding and Training Time

I am curious how many hours I spend working with my horses. I know logging my riding and training time will help motivate me to spend more time on these activities. And spending more time will help to improve my skills. My 2018 log will also give me a good idea how many hours I should aim for in future years.

Goal #2: Spend 100 Hours on Continuing Education

I want to become a better horsekeeper and rider this year. To achieve this, I am going to spend at least 100 hours reading, watching videos, attending clinics, participating in courses, taking lessons, etc. Basically, I want to spend 100 hours learning intentionally.

Goal #3: Compete in 3 Shows this Year

I have taken a couple of years off from competition, but this year I want to get back into the show pen a few times.

And that’s it. My 3 little goals for 2018.

Do you have trouble meeting your goals too? What are your horse-related goals for 2018? And how are you planning on making them attainable?
